Vanbreda Risk & Benefits leads the market

Vanbreda Risk & Benefits achieves Frontrunner status through strong communication, exceptional employer branding, and visible leadership under Stefaan Vanderzanden. Proof that Belgian brokers can compete on reputation and visibility.

International firms: strong on scale, variable on trust

Aon, Marsh, and Willis Towers Watson benefit from global infrastructure and resources, but their Belgian market presence doesn't always translate to local visibility or employer branding advantages — creating opportunity for focused local competitors.

Managing partner visibility: the trust factor

In a trust-based sector, firms where the managing partner cannot be publicly identified face a credibility gap. Leadership visibility directly impacts client confidence and talent attraction — yet it remains underdeveloped at most firms.

Digital transformation isn't yet a competitive differentiator

Despite 62% of sector firms investing in digital, few are communicating it effectively. Firms that clearly articulate their digital roadmap, fintech partnerships, and innovation story stand out and attract forward-thinking talent.

Employer branding: untapped advantage in tight talent market

The insurance and financial advisory sector faces intensifying competition for talent. Firms with visible employer brands, active career pages, and Glassdoor presence have measurable advantage in both quality and speed of hire.

Thought leadership attracts high-value clients

64% of institutional clients conduct online research before engaging with advisors. Firms that publish regulatory insights, market analysis, and expert commentary create gravitational pull that service alone cannot match.

Methodology

Every assessment is based on concrete, traceable data points — from LinkedIn analytics to Glassdoor ratings, from career pages to media coverage in Belgian media. No firm was consulted or informed.

Selection criteria — why these 12 firms?
Every firm meets three criteria: (1) significant presence in Belgium via offices in major Belgian cities, (2) active as a licensed insurance broker or financial advisor regulated by FSMA, and (3) focus on the Belgian market — meaning firms that directly compete for the same client base and talent. International firms like Aon and Marsh are included as global benchmarks. This yielded 12 firms: 5 international mid-market firms, 2 international benchmarks, and 5 Belgian independent firms.
